How to Renovate an Irish Holiday Home While Living in America

Owning a house in Ireland while living in Boston, New York or Chicago is a wonderful thing. Renovating it from 3,000 miles away can feel daunting. With the right structure it is entirely manageable. Here is how we run renovations for American owners.

One point of contact

The biggest risk for an overseas owner is managing several builders, suppliers and consultants separately. That means different time zones, different invoices and no one on the ground checking the work. We take the whole project as one appointment: survey, design, planning, builders and furnishing. You deal with one person.

Seeing the work without being there

We visit the site every week and when needed we are on site a few times a week. You get filmed walkthroughs, photo reports and written notes after every trade meeting, so you can see progress on your phone in the evening. Calls are scheduled on Eastern Time.

Money you can trust

Budgets are issued in USD alongside EUR. All costs agreed in advance.

Decisions made simply

Samples of finishes, fabrics and tiles are photographed in natural light and posted to you when it matters. Choices are presented as a short list rather than an overwhelming catalogue.

Arriving to a finished house

At the end, the house is furnished, the beds are made and the kitchen is stocked. Your first arrival is a holiday, not a to-do list.

Plan your first visit around the survey

Many clients time a trip to Ireland to meet us at the house for the initial survey. After that, most of the project can be run remotely.
